Mr. John Hmurovic, a native of the Robertsdale section of Hammond, donated a portion of his papers to the Calumet Regional Archives in November 1996. Note on Related Audio-Visual Material

During the production of "The Magic City of Steel," Mr. Humurovic gathered a number of audio tapes documenting local history. Many of the tapes were recorded during Gary's Golden Jubilee in 1956 and presented on radio station WWCA that year. Others captured oral histories of Gary pioneers during meetings of the Gary Historical Society. The original copies of these audio tapes reside at the Gary Public Library, while duplicate copies have been placed in the CRA Oral History Collection. An inventory to that collection is available in the Archives.

In addition to the audio tapes, Mr. Hmurovic donated two copies of the final edited program, "The Magic City of Steel," along with twenty videotapes of unedited footage, including all still photographs gathered during the research process and all interviews with live subjects. These video tapes have been placed in the WYIN-TV Records (CRA 375) and indices to the tapes are listed above as part of the Hmurovic Papers.
