Abstract
These papers comprise the research files of Andrew Hurley, a professor of history at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Dr. Hurley authored the book, Environmental Inequalities: Class, Race, and Industrial Pollution in Gary, Indiana, 1945-1980 (IUN Library 2nd Floor and Archives - Call Number: HC 108.G3 H87 1995). The collection includes photocopies of articles and documents from various archives dealing with subjects such as pollution, civil rights, labor, landfills, sandmining, and other subjects relating to the environmental justice movement. Full arrangement and description of these materials will occur as resources permit; a few specific reports have been presented as part of the preliminary inventory below.
